  • The book includes a disclaimer acknowledging the presence of racial caricatures in the strips and states that they are "reprinted without alteration for historical reference".
  • In conjunction with the strip's 80th Anniversary, this volume contains a complete reproduction of the Dick Tracy Mystery Contest, which had not been re-published since it initial appearance in the Chicago Tribune in January & February of 1949. This material was also made available to read for free at IDW's Library of American Comics blog, with readers encouraged to send in their solutions. The solution appeared in Volume 15.
