Providence J. Ogden was the poetry-spouting sidekick of Spots. He had short light hair, a stout stomach, and typically wore spectacles attached to a black string.

Association with Spots Edit

Ogden worked with Spots in several of his criminal endeavors, including fraud and blackmail. They had a generally good relationship, though it could become strained under duress.

After the death of his employer, Ogden was arrested by Dick Tracy.

  • Ogden's name was apparently inspired by the poet Ogden Nash.
  • Ogden's speech usually appeared in a different text format in the strip, appearing to readers as lines of poetry.
  • Ogden would attribute his speeches to various well-known poets, but they were not actually the work of those others.
